Build your model from the base up and re-create this comic art Pinup with custom brush settings
Alot of people think that it’s possible to use only Photoshop filters and image adjustment options on top of a photo to create realistic images – which it is. However, in this tutorial we want to show you other ways to achieve realistic results, combining conventional knowledge and techniques with Photoshop’s digital playground, using its sophisticated brush presets and options.
Starting with a conceptual character sketch, we’ll show you how to scan in and paint using brushes that simulate traditional painting, create textures for clothes and metals, enhance lights and affect skin tones. We’ll also create realistic hair and finish the image with a vibrant background colour scheme.
This tutorial image has a traditional pinup style, taken from our concept character’s pencil sketch. Much like in comic books and the games industry, we’ve completely radicalised our design in Photoshop, in order to show you just how amazing and versatile your result can be.
You will be guided through this image’s key elements, including character concept, establishing a colour scheme, painting textures, creating your guitar, making hair and adding tattoos.
