Digital artist Soufiane Idrassi explains how he produces this photomanipulation using stock and Photoshop brushes

In this tutorial digital artist Soufiane Idrassi shows you how to re-create his signature fantasy photomanipulation style from his ‘Winged Angel’ image series.

You’ll learn how to combine photo stock and special Photoshop effects to create sensibility in your images.

We reveal how to achieve surreal results through straightforward techniques and tricks, taking your fantasy images to the next level. Photoshop layer masks, gradients and the Brush tool are all explored and applied to multiple stock photos to create a look that is accurate and believable – shaping form, colour and lighting.

You’ll also discover how to create a moody atmosphere, comp in artificial exposure and add focal light to draw attention to your subject. For the final stages of the project we’ll be delving into post-production effects, which include ways to colour grade with tonal adjustment layers, enhance delineation with the Smart Sharpen filter and apply a hint of vintage with the Lens Correction filter.

As this is an inspirational piece, we thought it also fair to reference the model stock used, which you can purchase from, file number 78037048. Of course you can choose your own if you prefer. Other stocks applied are referenced throughout the steps, but winged images are easy to come by luckily, as these are essential to the success of this fantasy-manipulation style. The images referenced are not be used for commercial purposes.
