With the introduction of iOS 7, Apple has completely changed the way designers create mobile applications for iOS devices. This tutorial aims to get you up and running with the basics of the new structure, and ultimately develop an iOS 7-inspired design using Photoshop. To do this, you’ll create individual iOS elements that all come together to a produce a beautiful Retina-ready app. This tutorial is presented using OS X, but will look equally as good for those using Windows. However, you do require Photoshop CS5 and above.
Photoshop is the perfect tool when it comes to designing iOS interfaces because you have complete control over what your app looks like, and you also have the ability to make quick changes, which would be difficult if you were to code an app completely. Although this article does assume basic Photoshop knowledge (ability to use layer styles, position images and manipulate the position of shapes), you by no means need to be an expert to follow along! Moreover, all you need to get started here is Photoshop CS5 and above. Just be sure to download the assets folder from the resource pack, then you’re ready to rock and roll!
