If you have ever wondered what your car would look like with a super-cool paint job, but you don’t want to mess up your wheels to find out, then why not give it a go in Photoshop instead?
This is the type of project where Photoshop really shines! The most daunting challenge of creating the custom paint job is to retain the lighting, shadows and reflections that are present in the original photograph. Using Hue/Saturation adjustment layers set to Colorize is the best approach.
Use the Pen tool to create paths around the front painted area of the car, and to draw in the flames. Use this path as a vector mask on a reddish-orange adjustment layer. Use additional adjustment layers for each colour of the paint. Top it off with a background copy set to Overlay and Opacity reduced to 50%.
